News: New building extension to house the growing telecommunications collection

Connected Earth Hall

A new building extension to the Connected Earth Hall at Amberley Museum is ongoing. The foundations have been completed and work is now progressing on the floor.

The extension will allow several further communication displays to be added to the many interesting displays already to be found in the hall.

Volunteers have been working hard over the winter break to not only maintain the interactive working displays but also improve and add some new ones. For the new 2013 season there will be a new Cable Ship Display with many original artefacts, photos and videos.

Another new display of the many different telephone cards will be seen as well as a greatly improved optical fibre display.

Unfortunately there will be no dedicated P.O. Vehicle Event in 2013 but it is hoped several P.O. vehicles will be on site during the Commercial Vehicle show on the 23rd of June.
