The museum project has been designed to complement and support a visit to the Connected Earth gallery at Amberley Working Museum. The project contains different activities, relating to the story of communications, and the displays at Amberley. These activities can be used before, during and after a visit to the Museum.

When you step into the Connected Earth building at Amberley Museum, among the first things you
will see is an old post office. From the 1870s to the mid- 1900s, one of the most popular ways to
send a long-distance message was the telegram. A telegram worked like an e-mail or text message, but you went to a post office to send it, (or telephoned it in).
