Volunteer network

The Institute of Telecommunications Professionals coordinates the volunteer network to help Connected Earth museums across the UK which are looking for volunteers to get involved in looking after their collections and making them accessible.

The museums all have different needs; some are small, independent museums which wouldn't open at all without volunteer help and others are national institutions, which are looking for volunteers with specialist knowledge to help with these specialist collections.

Fred Stanford, Connected Earth volunteer at Amberley Working Museum in West Sussex, said, "Working as a volunteer at Amberley has been a genuinely fulfilling experience for me. It's allowed me to use technical skills I thought I'd never need again - and I really enjoy talking to people as they explore the gallery. I'd encourage anyone who has a bit of free time to get involved."

Volunteers would be welcomed at the following museums:

You can find out more about all of these museums in the Days Out section of the website.  If you're interested in volunteering and would like more information, please e-mail connectedearth@bt.com.
