Communicate!, the Connected Earth gallery at NMS, is part of the Royal Museum - a magnificent Victorian building in Edinburgh. It is one of a group of exhibitions exploring science and technology and heralds a major redevelopment of the Museum.
Communicate! is the first in a planned series of new galleries which will transform the Museum for the twenty-first century. The museum has opened a new interactive science and technology exhibition called Connect on the nearby ground floor gallery, and created a new space for changing hands-on exhibitions on the top floor. Sixteen more galleries and learning zones will be created in a Heritage Lottery Funded project starting in 2008.
Communicate! and the other science and technology galleries provide a link between the Royal Museum - which presents the world to Scotland - and the neighbouring Museum of Scotland - which presents Scotland to the world. Together these two buildings make up Scotland's flagship museum site in Edinburgh, part of the NMS group of six museums.
