Inside the "Tardis" police box

This police box was originally located in Glasgow. Unlike the cast-iron police pillars, it was made of reinforced concrete with very small windows. It was designed to be large enough to be used as a temporary holding cell for criminals awaiting transfer to the local police station.
The box had a safe fitted, allowing valuables to be secured, and has a telephone. This could be accessed from outside the box, allowing the public to use it to report emergencies or for routine enquiries.
